A Rapid Shutdown Device (RSD) is an electrical safety mechanism used in photovoltaic (PV) systems to quickly shut down the electrical current flowing through the system in case of an emergency or maintenance situation.

The RSD works by providing a means to rapidly disconnect the PV array from the rest of the system, reducing the risk of electric shock or fire.
